Yoga
I believe yoga is for everyone and my classes are fun, inclusive and focused on encouraging students to be more aware of their bodies and minds and to take that awareness into their everyday lives – that’s the challenging bit. I am quite down-to-earth and encourage comments, questions, and laughter, creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in my classes.
A typical class will include pranayama (breathing exercises), some Sun Salutations to get energy flowing, asanas including back and forward bends, twists, balances and inversions and I always end with everyone’s favourite: a soothing guided relaxation in savasana. However, I will teach to the class and every lesson will be different depending on the students and the energy in the room. I also often like to incorporate slow-flowing sequences, and I enjoy experimenting with new stretches and balances, sharing them with my classes. I love teaching yoga, and I learn from every student that I teach, which brings me great joy.
As well as teaching conventional yoga classes, I have branched out in recent years to teach Chair Yoga and Special Yoga (yoga aimed at people with neurodiversity or additional support needs).
I also teach my own hybrid form of Chair Yoga at care homes, where I incorporate singing with seated flowing yoga movements - really fun and engaging.
